Welcome to LunaCobra.net

For as long as I can remember, my family kitchen, living room and my father's den was strewn with medical books, diagrams, journals and anatomical drawings, some composed by my mother who was a medical illustrator at the time, presently a surgical tech.

Weekends and holidays were often filled with heated debates over new medicines and surgical practices and the overall desire of the family that we all participate. My grandfather died when I was young, but my grandmother always told me that it was his wish for his grandchildren to flow, as my father did, and become a surgeon. Living with my older brother through medical school and studying beside him was a great learning experience for me.

Although everything pointed me to following in my family chosen profession, it was not until as a young teenager on a family tip to Egypt that I came in contact with traditional Africian scarification. These images and exchanges never left me. Returning from Egypt I studied all I could about tribal rituals and art, finding a depth that was absent from the world around me.

I disciplined myself into making this world, the tribal one, a reality for myself and those around me.To me, wearing tribal art and generally modifying one's body is not a fashion but a return to what it means to be a true human being.
